VOLUNTEERS at an animal charity have been overwhelmed by the kindness of an Evening Telegraph reader who donated a much-needed van to the organisation.
Jimmy James of Minerva Fundraising Consultancy in Stanwick read in the newspaper that animal re-homing charity Nanna, of Irthlingborough, were in desperate need of a van to transport their animals and decided to buy them one.
Petrina Alderman, who runs the charity, was thrilled with the offer.
She said: ”I had the call from Jimmy saying that he had read about our van which was written off in an accident and said he wanted to help.
“And then he offered us a new van. I am over the moon with it.
“For us the van is a big part of the charity because we use it to take the animals to and from the vet, we use it to collect donated equipment – all sorts.
“We have been without one for a few weeks now and although we have managed it has meant that we have had to pass up the chance of some rabbit hutches that were offered to us but we couldn’t collect them, they wouldn’t fit in the car.
“I can’t put into words what this van will mean to us, it is such a kind donation.”
Nanna is a charity which has no paid staff and it is always willing to accept donations and new volunteers.
Minerva Fundraising Consultancy would like to thank Middlecote Ltd of Cheltenham who supplied the van, and York Ward and Rowlatt of Wellingborough who serviced it prior to delivery to NANNA
